Introduction

iPlan MyFuture provides online career planning and job search resources that take you from the beginning of your job search to the end of your career — sometimes at the same time. We believe in bridging the gap between aspirations and effort, so we make it easy for you to access a wide range of high-quality tools, checklists and other resources.

Control your future

  • Control your future by making informed decisions.

  • Use your own experience to help others.

  • Be honest with yourself.

  • Be proactive, not reactive. Don’t wait for things to happen to you; make them happen!

  • Be prepared for change, as it will happen whether we like it or not. Change is inevitable, so be ready to adapt and learn new skills when necessary (e.g., learning how to use a new computer program).

  • Be confident in your abilities, but do not get complacent or arrogant towards others who may have different abilities than yours—remember that everyone can learn something from someone else at some point in their life!

Set goals for everything

Setting goals is one of the most important things you can do for yourself, your business, and your life. Why? Because it’s the difference between setting a direction and wandering through life aimlessly.

Setting goals gives you a clear path to follow. It gives you something to aim for. And while failing to reach a goal doesn’t mean that everything is lost (I mean, who hasn't failed at least once?), it does mean that you need to take some time and look at where things went wrong so that next time around, they go better.

But what are these magical “goals?” What should they look like? How do I set them? And what if I don't know where my passions lie yet or even how many passions I have? Fear not! There are plenty of ways for even the most indecisive among us to get started on establishing good habits and achieving success in all areas.

Get the right training and experience

  • Look for a training program that will help you grow your skills.

  • Look for a training program that will help you get a new job, promotion or raise.

  • Look for a training program that will help you earn more money at work so you can save more money in the bank and buy things you want or need like a new computer or car or even go on vacation with your family and friends

Become indispensable in your current job

In order to be indispensable, you must first learn everything you can about your job. Be prepared to take on new responsibilities and always be a problem solver. If a problem arises, don't panic! This is where communication skills come in handy. If there is an issue with a project or task, communicate efficiently and effectively so that everyone has the same understanding of the situation.

As a team player, it's important for you to listen carefully when people are speaking and make sure they know that what they're saying will be taken into consideration by others in the workplace as well. You'll also want to make sure that everyone feels like they belong here; this means making sure everyone feels welcome at work regardless of their background or experience level with certain tasks at hand within any given project we may be working on together as part of our team (and remember: Communication Is Key). When someone comes up with an innovative idea or suggestion during meetings/discussions about projects/tasks etcetera.

Improve your skills

  • Make a list of your skills and experience.

  • Explain the importance of being able to communicate effectively.

  • Explain the importance of being able to work as part of a team.

  • Explain the importance of being able to work independently.

  • Explain the importance of being able to work under pressure.

Build a network of people who know and believe in you

The most important thing to know about building a network is that it takes time. You can’t expect to meet people who are going to help you with your career overnight. It takes time, effort and consistency to build a meaningful network of people who know and believe in you.

Here are some tips on how you can start building your network:

  • Make friends with people who are positive, hardworking, kind and supportive - these qualities will rub off on you!

  • Join clubs or organisations that match your interests or hobbies (e.g., if you love books, join the book club at work).

  • Go out for coffee with someone from another department/group once a month (or more often if possible). It doesn't matter how busy they seem; everyone has a little bit of free time, throughout the day. Also, check out Meetup groups near where you live! They're great for connecting with like-minded individuals over shared interests such as fitness or travel! You might even end up finding someone who wants to go visit someplace new :)

Be open to new opportunities that you may not have thought of before

You should be open to new opportunities that you may not have thought of before. Be willing to take risks, and adapt to the changes around you. Don't let your life get stuck in a rut; be prepared to take advantage of any opportunities that come your way, even if they're unexpected or unfamiliar. It's important not only to try new things but also to learn from them—and then adapt accordingly!

The key is to be ready when the right opportunity comes along.

You can be ready for opportunities when they arrive. You can be prepared for the future. You can be ready to make decisions, take action and take responsibility. But it’s not always so easy to know where you should start or how long it will take until you feel ready enough.

The key is to be ready when the right opportunity comes along. If a job comes up which sounds interesting, but isn’t exactly what you want to do, don’t turn down an interview just because there isn't another offer on the table yet. The more interviews you get, the better your chances of finding something that will excite and challenge you - even if it might mean making some short-term sacrifices along the way!
